Mary Island Lighthouse

Built in 1937 to replace the original wooden light house, in 1969 the light was automated and the personnel that once ran it were no longer required. The houses that once served the keepers were relocated to the Ketchikan area, leaving the lone lighthouse.  With windows broken and doors torn down, it is a sad site to look upon today. This collection captures not only the loneliness of this location but also the raw beauty of a once majestic structure.
