Southeast Alaska has some of the most extreme tides in the world. With these tides whole trees are lifted high on the shore and remain there stuck. When I anchored off New Eddystone Rock and took my skiff ashore I came across this  spruce log “lodge” on the rock. The starkness of the scene cried to be photographed and now is considered by many to capture that which is Southeast Alaska in all of its dichotomies and mysteries.

All prints are processed on ILFORD GALERIE FB (Fiber Base) DIGITAL SILVER paper with the following characteristics:
